- "Couvade syndrome, also called sympathetic pregnancy, is a proposed condition in which a partner experiences some of the same symptoms and behavior of an expectant mother" - Wikipedia
- Strange but true: Couvade syndrome (sympathetic pregnancy) | BabyCenter - ""My husband is experiencing constipation, gas, bloating, irritability, and nausea right along with me," says one BabyCenter mom-to-be. And dad Mathew Erickson admits, "During my wife's pregnancy, I gained 15 pounds and had severe swelling in my hands.""
- "Each year, more than 208 million pregnancies occur worldwide; 185 million occur in the developing world alone" - .Guttmacher

Some people are 80% water, some people are 80% food.
Cakes, etc. are great for protein. Pizza is a great vegetable, etc.
Humans may need to eat 3 small meals a day, but hobbits must eat more!
Carbo Loading
On a serious note, how come this is somehow okay for people who are thin, but a no-no for people who are fat? Would it be the stereotype that all fat people have diabetes or are prone to diabetes but thin people are somehow immune to those same diseases while eating the same things as a thin person? Anyway, it is a bit sizophobic to push this onto thin athletes or people who are training, yet shame fat people for it.
This is for humor about how much some of us eat delciious carbs! No more carb-shaming.

- @ Wikipedia - "Carbohydrate loading, commonly referred to as carb-loading or carbo-loading, is a strategy used by endurance athletes, such as marathon runners, to maximize the storage of glycogen (or energy) in the muscles and liver"
- Carbo-loading: Tips for endurance athletes @ ACTIVE - "All during this week, you should maintain your tried-and-true high-carbohydrate training diet. Drastic changes can easily lead to upset stomachs, diarrhea or constipation. For example, carbo-loading on an unusually high amount of fruits and juices might cause diarrhea. Too many white flour, low fiber bagels, breads and pasta might clog your system. As Marathon King Bill Rodgers once said "More marathons are won or lost in the porta-toilets than they are at the marathon..." Fuel wisely, not like a chow hound."
- Basics of Carbohydrate Loading @ Eat Right - "It makes sense that eating carbohydrate-rich foods to maximize our glycogen stores — a strategy known as carbohydrate loading — provides athletes with the energy necessary to sustain an increased level of physical activity for a longer duration. For example, an athlete can store 1,800 to 2,000 calories of fuel as glycogen in the muscles and liver. This energy can fuel about 90 to 120 minutes of vigorous activity. More recent evidence suggests that in events lasting longer than 90 minutes, maximized glycogen stores can improve a runner's finish time by 2 to 3 percent. This could translate to a 5- to 7-minute improvement for a 4-hour marathoner."
- @ Mayo Clinic - "Any physical activity requires carbohydrates for fuel. For most recreational activity, your body uses its existing energy stores for fuel. But when you engage in long, intense athletic events, your body needs extra energy to keep going. The purpose of carbohydrate loading is to give you the energy to complete an endurance event with less fatigue, improving your athletic performance."
- @ Runners World - "Muscle glycogen is the main source of energy in intense endurance events. As that glycogen is used up, athletic performance is jeopardized.
However, the greater the amount of stored muscle glycogen, the greater the endurance potential of the body." - Carbohydrate Loading @ Indoor Climbing - "Your body's storage of glycogen in the muscles and liver increases. The glycogen is used by muscles for additional energy and sustained performance and enhanced endurance. It takes about 2,400 carbohydrate calories over several days to recover after exercise. Carbohydrate loading is done by consuming about 640 grams of carbohydrates a day and reducing your protein and fat intake significantly. If you climb longer routes such as trad, long sport routes, or lead long routes, or if you are a competition climber, carbohydrate loading may help your performance."
- @ Run Your BQ - "Include carbs in every meal. The best options include oatmeal (get the sugary kind!), white/brown rice, quinoa, bread, and pizza (limit the grease)"
- 60-Second Guide: Carb-Loading @ Runners World - "To reach your carbohydrate target, try to eat little and often rather than just super-sizing your usual meals. Eating five or six smaller meals is much more palatable than stuffing yourself only to feel queasy and lethargic. It's also worth remembering that it isn't necessary to radically increase your daily calorie intake as a whole - it's simply about increasing the proportion of carbs on your plate."
- Carbohydrate intake days before competition @ Human Kinetics - "The regimen that was proposed is generally referred to as the classical supercompensation protocol (see figure 6.5). Several top athletes have used it successfully, including the legendary British runner Ron Hill. In fact, nowadays many marathon runners use this method to optimize their performance. Although the supercompensation protocol has been effective in increasing muscle glycogen to very high concentrations, it also has several important (potential) disadvantages of which athletes should be aware: Hypoglycemia during the low-carbohydrate period. Practical problems (difficulty in preparing extreme diets). Gastrointestinal problems (especially on the low-carbohydrate diet). Poor recovery when no carbohydrate is ingested. Tenseness during a week without training.Increased risk of injury.Mood disturbances (lethargy and irritability) during the low-carbohydrate period"
- The Science of Carbohydrate Loading @ MarathonTraining.com - "A valid connection between hypoglycemia, fatigue and premature termination of exercise been firmly established and therefore carbohydrate loading is a proven form of boosting running endurance in prolonged events lasting more than two hours in duration. While there are various methods of carbo-loading, the process basically involves consuming large quantities of carbohydrate-rich food in order to saturate the body’s carbohydrate stores. It is proposed that with these increased energy stores, the competitor will be able to avoid exercise-induced hypoglycemia and continue exercising longer than if this saturation process had not occurred. This article aims to further explain how to perform carbohydrate loading and the reasoning behind its practice."
